That's 6 weeks later than its previous latest first 1"+ snow of the season, which was set last year (Jan. 4, 2025).

Monday was Madison, Wisconsin's earliest high of at least 64˚ in records dating to Reconstruction.
Previous earliest 64˚+ was Feb. 22, 2017 (68˚). And they hit 70˚ during the late Feb. 2024 heat wave.
