The new Wire, Plastics & Packaging AI collab with a little known start up called Goggle - can only mean one thing.

MASS ADVERTISING SLOP-FEST.

Intriguing when your former and current employer make the news for working together.

Despite what the pundits say, Mum and Dad aren't fighting - but if you believed the American Psycho factory that is LinkedIn, you'd be forgiven for thinking so.

I have read Audition, one of the Booker shortlisted novels, so you don't have to.

Avoid. Nice premise, but a writer a bit in love with the idea / you end up counting the number of times 'Xavier' is written.

Anyone read any others? Flesh any good?

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Scott Galloway is a raging misogynist and it’s good to see this piece actually grapple with the toxic worldview he pushes
What Did Men Do to Deserve This?
Changes in the economy and in the culture seem to have hit them hard. Scott Galloway believes they need an “aspirational vision of masculinity.”

In exciting biscuit related news, I finally tried a Tunnocks Caramel Log.

Good, but the tiering is unchallenged

1) Dark choccy caramel wafer
2) Milk choccy caramel wafer
3) Teacake
4) Chocolate log
5) Snowball

I think the reason LinkedIn is so rife with sociopathic behaviour is the weird gap between personal and professional. The need to show status.

For example, 90% of people in industry beyond 10+ years describe themselves at leaders (especially in advertising). I think i've met 5-6 actual leaders.

WARNING, JOHN LEWIS TAKE:

I appreciate it's been true time immemorium, but ads which basically dramatise how a mid 40's creative director thinks the world is are very dull and onanistic.

This feels a bit like that, even as it's nicely made, I am almost the direct audience, etc etc.

It’s 6 November, and you know what that means, don’t you? YES, THAT’S RIGHT. It’s the 156th anniversary of the death of Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s pet wombat

Finally watching Ted Lasso. I have a sneaking suspicion it is going to really irritate me. But let’s see.

Honestly TELL THE STORY. Won’t someone just tell the fucking story of how Brexit created this economic hardship, how a Muslim immigrant just saved the lives of those commuters on that train, won’t someone in politics or even media just connect the fucking dots and TELL THE STORY. IT’S RIGHT THERE

One of these is a good ad. The other appears to be an ad for a high priced rollercoaster duvet company

Lots of AI inserted into training courses, as expected.

Honestly, I think that if a similar amount of effort had been put into how to use Google properly back in the day (say 2007-10), we might have had more informed / critically minded folk.

Why would I want to download an app to watch an ad? Oh, John Lewis. People are lazy. Your insights people should've told you that.

The hysteria and swivel eyed response from the media aboutthe lone nutter with a knife on a train reminds me of the Simpsons episode about the bear tax:

Stoke winning 5-1 at home, England beating Australia in the rugby, and perhaps most importantly, my son’s first football match ended in a triumphant 10-7 away win.

A good day of sport.
