This. All of this. The lies from the GOP are so thick it’s almost impossible to address them all, but this article does about as good of a job as possible.
I can't remember the last time I saw an article just focus on this. Not that they've bent the truth or misrepresented a few facts a little, but that every single solitary thing that the GOP says on the topic is a stone cold lie with absolutely no basis in reality.

This is precisely why democrats are losing. They think only supporting “popular” legislation will get them in office, so they’ll happily throw a minority group under the bus. The reality is they look like a bunch of spineless wimps and people don’t want to support a political party without resolve.
the thing about “democrats should take popular cultural positions” is that what constitutes popular is a function of an interaction between the public and elites. if a faction of elites start screaming about a vulnerable minority and another faction says they have a point, this shapes the public.
In a leaked recording, State Senator Elena Parent (D-42) said she’d vote for Republican transgender healthcare bans because trans rights are too “unpopular."

"You can go right to heck. I don’t think I will lose re-election based on you screaming at me"

The 2025 WV legislative session is less than 48 hours old, and state legislators have already put forth 17 anti-trans bills. Most of the bills were introduced in previous years, but this year is especially dangerous. If you’re from WV, today is a good day to call or email elected officials.

They’re trying to remove transgender people from Stonewall and now describing the Pride flag as being an “LGB” or “LGBQ” flag. If there’s no pushback from cis gender people, this will only accelerate. When trans people say we’re being erased, it’s not hyperbole.
This should be exceedingly obvious, but when Stonewall stays up while references to trans people come down, they will measure the silence of cisgender people as concurrence for whatever they plan next, and it still won't protect you in the end. So please get loud. Our mutual survival depends on it.

The mask is off with these fucking fascists.

Trump is calling trans military members dishonorable liars, is shutting down gov't funded programs to try to root out trans people, and red states across the country are following suit.

There's barely any pretense to their hateful policy anymore.

BREAKING: President Trump signed an executive order threatening to override families with transgender youth and shut down access to gender-affirming care for trans people under the age of 19 nationwide.

This order will not take immediate effect, and we will not allow this policy to stand.

Trump just cut funding to every Head Start program in the country, putting 800,000 kids at risk. I literally cannot imagine a president more evil than Trump. It’s unprecedented.
So this is cool.

If you have the means, I highly recommend donating to your local food banks and mutual aid right now.

Some resources below ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Trump just took the food away from over 41 million American families.
Nothing says pro life like starving out children.

this is not the government of "we just think trans rights went a little too far". On day 1, this administration has indicated that their priority is to stamp us out of existence. This will be hard for some third parties to accept as truth but they've been plainly and openly saying it for years.

What. The. Fuck. My passport has an X. I am not going to limit my travel because of Trump’s fucking hatred.
NBC White House correspondent reporting that legal experts advise those with passports with x markers may be held up upon attempt to use it.

I CANNOT confirm this but it’s certainly notable that it’s being reported.

This is why I’ve basically stopped using Facebook. It’s not just Zuckerberg’s boot licking. They have done nothing to prevent hateful rhetoric.
If you work at Meta and support LGBTQ+ people no you don't.
Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.
