I might not be at Thought Bubble this weekend but I am in my kitchen making an enormous batch of lamb stew and arranging the pans in a visually appealing way whilst listening to Jim Ghedi.

Fascinated to the extent that this trailer for Keeper is for a completely different film to the one I saw last night. This is a tense, complex psychological horror with no clear protagonist/antagonist divide.

The movie in cinemas is a badly paced folk horror with no idea what folklore feels like.

This anti knife crime advert that asks “there’s no safe place to get stabbed, so why do it?” surely overlooks that the motivation of stabbing someone is rarely about keeping the victim safe?

@kierongillen.bsky.social just a heads up, looks like newsletters 345 and then 347 onwards haven’t come through to my gmail; the script club mails did though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The time is right, the people demand it, we need to make a new American Pie film with the original cast. It should be about going on a weekend break to a vineyard and doing some wine tasting.

I love to explain that high end fashion items aren’t meant for general consumption, and are often expensive and seem weird to outsiders. I love to explain it multiple times.

I don't know if hollywood knows that having a suave british man in a suit walk onto the screen with a gun and the music going DAH DA DA DAAAA is one of the biggest pops possible?

One of my Beltane Reds got a tattoo of the pyramid plan from the night as a sort of pictogram cartoon and I am *beyond honoured* by it. Just really overwhelming to see art you co-created being permanently memorialised by someone who participated in it.

I went into Lidl today and picked up a single orange from a box labelled “easy peeler oranges”, then went to the self checkout and selected “easy peeler orange”. The checkout errored.

The cashier came over and told me that they didn’t sell easy peeler oranges.

Baffling. Went to Sainsbury’s. 30p.

Technical difficulties at the Warhammer livestream which is being broadcast from a hotel in Atlanta instead of one of the four tv studio sets at the headquarters of the £5bn company. Good work lads

It's probably a fine sign when you decide to remove 60 facebook friends and unfollow 80+ instagram accounts right? That's a sign that things are going great

Went back and got the last few collectibles for Senua’s Saga and god that game is beautiful, and the storytelling is excellent. I should probably have a go at the Dev Commentary at some point too.

Not gonna try Dark Rot mode though, games already too hard for me, a bad video games player.

Woke up at 4am this morning. Couldn’t get back to sleep. Unsurprisingly I have absolutely no motivation and feel like complete toilet.

Once upon a desert sandy
As through winds the trav'ling man he
Spied the face of Ozymandy
Lying, simply lying there
Suddenly there was some writing
Pon the plinth that he was sighting
That the sand and time were blighting
Quoth the statue, "Now despair"
There was an old man you could gaze
At his works in despair in a daze
If you looked upon them
And were mere mortal men
'Ozymandias mighty', it says
My name is Pagliacci, Clown of Clowns. Look on my works, ye doctors; I despair.

I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

Just a superb little slice of game; I cannot recommend it enough. Evocative, atmospheric and exactly long enough. It even does the proper folk horror thing of having weird stuff that's not *doing* anything but is there for the bad vibes. Love it.
The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is a blood-curdling 55% off in the Steam Halloween sale!
A perfect time to play our folk horror adventure game inspired by movies such as The Wicker Man & the works of M.R. James, with a little pinch of Twin Peaks and Lovecraft.
