This is exactly how librarians have been blamed for cuts to library budgets for decades. "You didn't do enough to communicate your value." What that really means is "you don't make any profit, and profit is the only legitimate value an organization can produce."
You hear this a lot on the left but it isn't true. USAID did not "fail to tell its story to Americans," the right targeted the agency with lies and misinformation.

Ultimately this narrative turns conservative attacks into even more calls for the left to reform.

Just read the news about the recent supreme court decision, 7-2, to block one of Trump’s moves to deport people. The dissent was Alito and Thomas.

Trump’s supreme court appointees still all suck as people but it’s very funny when they won’t play ball for him.

Some notes on the aesthetics of the second Trump term. Its accompanying artistic movement is grotesque slop. Slop for the slop god

My partner testified at the state capital today against a god awful senate bill that would allow the legislature to dictate curriculums at state universities and community colleges. I’m so incredibly proud rn. 🥹

the democratic party leadership is not meeting the moment. we live in fascism and the party leadership is doing book tours and calling their own base anti-semitic for supporting palestinians. it’s laughable how there’s any confusion why no one likes them

HEB of Theseus continues. New lighting! Took me a long time to find the cat food.
My regular HEB is undergoing construction but is still open. They’re redoing whole sections and moving stuff constantly. I call it the HEB of Theseus. The big question: Will it be the same HEB when they are done?

Please look up the influenza epidemic of 1918-19 to understand that the CDC not selecting strains for next year’s vaccines sets the stage for a public health calamity that will, without doubt and at bare minimum, catastrophically and directly impact people you know. This is a five alarm fire.
