As USL plans major infrastructural increases, I wonder about the upside for club owners.
There's not real rev sharing in USL. Expansion fees stay at USL HQ. Clubs pay yearly dues to USL HQ. Even when teams do turn a (very rare) profit, 49% of that goes to USL HQ.
Interesting times ahead.

the other side of this is that Lexington have basically guaranteed themselves to be the main character in USL this year given the salaries + transfer fees producing a spectacularly high squad cost.

I don’t have access to their books, so impossible for me to know with any certainty, but Lexington’s patterns in terms of how they spend and their likely revenue look to me like a team that will be folded in approx. 5 years. It’s nonsensical and likely relies on an owner not getting bored.
Lexington SC has acquired forward Phillip Goodrum from @loucity.com for a six-figure transfer fee including conditional clauses which could see the transaction become the highest between two #USLC clubs in league history.
