Huge congrats to MEL CD SOUNDSYSTEM who not only came second in the @endoftheroadfestival.com Where Is My Mind? Quiz but also snagged the half-time bubbles AND probs got funniest team name too!

They win 2 passes to EOTR 2026*, and Terence the Tortoise, who we're sure will be well looked after.
Why would I shop at a place that deliberately makes me cry, though? Bastards 😢🥰🪩

Whoever at the BBC made the decision to open up the depths of the archive on BBC4 and online at @bbcarchive.bsky.social should be applauded. Full programmes rather than cute clips (ie the opposite of the current BBC Sounds policy) and cleverly curated as well.*
2nd Nov on BBC4 - a couple of 60s "Man Alive"s. "Living in Sin", and "The Office Party". Rarely met a "Man Alive" that wasn't at the very least fascinating. These should be a treat.

Neil Halstead out of Slowdive once recorded a cover of Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting" for a compilation of "indie lullabies".

Who knew, etc?

You know how there's so much music everywhere that even incredible things that have really affected you can get lost in the continuing noise?
Well here's an absolutely astonishing album I've not heard in years, that has just *floored* me once again.
We are so lucky that art can do this to us! Waaah

I look forward to the day when Big Bay Leaf gets the reckoning it surely deserves, and its many bad actors are finally revealed across the planet as the crooked peddlers of useless greenery that adds literally nothing to any dish

Best advice I never took was when I was 30 and on a massive career fast-track: You cannot cuddle with your career on a lonely night when your life is on the decline. Invest as much time on love and family. Sounded twee then. At 62 and near retirement, I now know it's 100% true.

there’s still a lot of people on the left who’re like ‘but the greens are a niche group who are bad at engaging a broad population’ and i would like to show me the last time you have seen an ad as clear, engaging and substantive as this one

Those Mercury noms in full:

Nostalgia
Genre diversity
One album late
Just indie enough
Ignoring trans life will this do
Jazz won last year so
Don't get it but should
Actually decent
Safe working class
Borderline unlistenable but cool
Honestly anyone but a trans act
Surprise Glasto crossover

What song makes you go 'full Cuddly Toy' - as it should forever be known - in public, without warning or ability to stop?

Asking because 'Like A Prayer' has just Got Me alone in a random pub (and I know 'It's A Sin' can do it too)
