President Trump is using the Justice Department as a weapon against his political enemies. Today NY Attorney General Letitia James was indicted after the president demanded her prosecution. Yesterday James Comey pled not guilty to charges brought against him at the president's request. 1/2

Don’t debase the census
Meddling in the census fits into the Trump administration’s broader efforts to manipulate data and institutions to skew elections in his party’s favor.

Did the WaPo editorial board seriously suggest that Congress abolishing the filibuster (its own rule) to pass election legislation within its constitutional authority is similar to the president taking over elections without any constitutional authority? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Trump’s promised executive order on mail-in voting won’t have teeth.

Trump's proposed executive order on elections is flatly illegal & unconstitutional. Presidents have no lawful role in running elections. Only the states and Congress do. Courts have already rejected his prior elections EO on this basis. This claim of authority to take over elections is chilling.
🚨BREAKING: Donald Trump announces he will issue an unconstitutional and illegal executive order purporting to ban mail-in voting and certain voting equipment for the 2026 midterm election.

Such an effort would violate the Constitution and is a major step to prevent free and fair elections.

New curtain raiser on the Trump Administration's concerted efforts to undermine elections. While attacks on elections are (sadly) not new, the effort to mobilize the power of the federal govt in service of those attacks is very new & very dangerous. www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...

The court’s ruling does, however, seriously weaken the tools available to federal courts to enforce adherence to the law. In that way, it has emboldened executive abuse of power.

It's worth keeping in mind, insofar as today's #SCOTUS ruling is going to put a lot of pressure on federal district courts to certify nationwide class actions, that part of why nationwide classes have become harder to certify is because of ... the Supreme Court:

Bonus 136: Nationwide Injunctions vs. Nationwide Class Actions
If those who oppose non-plaintiff-specific relief are doing so on principle and not just politics, they should support more robust nationwide class action suits against the federal government.

Remember that the EO purporting to limit birthright citizenship is just as unconstitutional today as it was yesterday. The constitution makes clear that babies born in the U.S. are American citizens. Period.
