@emilypeck.bsky.social I am from a town of 400 people in rural Colorado & fyi — travel (near & far, cheap & expensive) literally changed me, gave me perspective as to what was possible & broadened my horizons. It made me more curious, more empathetic & more willing to take risks & welcome discomfort

My hot take no one asked for - Elon paid Trump $250MM in election support not to do anything with #DOGE other than gather unparalleled amounts of data & acquire more government contracts.

That was the deal. Nothing more

I’m fucking sick of opinion politics. I’d really like less podcasters and more expertise. It’s really bad for society am I wrong?

Preach
America cannot long remain free, nor first among nations, if it becomes the kind of place where universities are dismantled because they don't align politically with the current head of the government.

I’m feeling like American culture has been completely usurped by creatures of tech bro + game theory + ADHD capitalists + Fox News.

Our culture is one built on toxic individualism, a lack of emotional intelligence, inability to focus, inhumane dominance & multidimensional addictions.

This @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social interview was infuriating. I support her supporting her constituents and rural life, but she seems to have no space to see a world view outside her own. She seems brittle, and uncompromising… not a representative willing to represent all types of Americans.

Just watched @marcelias.bsky.social on @60minutes.bsky.social great articulate explanation how critical the rule of law is to society but especially to the corporations and the commerce system, otherwise we will be like China with a dictatorship

@eringloriaryan.bsky.social thoughts on your thoughts about progressive women’s pubs - perhaps they fell off a cliff because toxic masculinity a la brosphere has made for a rather blah reality for women.

All this chatter about boys & men falling behind/or not being ok, but for us lib gals it’s…

To think self indulgent antivax conspiracy theory (cough, also known as privilege) will be the death a wildly important organization (tho has its problems I know).

Our country of individual liberties is killing itself due to over self indulgence.

Serious question… how are we feeling about invoking the 25th amendment? Trouble with it is JD may be even scarier in some ways… but seriously our president is not just dangerous, but unfit #amiwrong?

I feel this sums up not just the legal world but the business world people just can’t seem to fathom reality
It's genuinely hard to express to sort of normal not politically plugged in non-lawyers *how* lawless the Trump administration is, and I think that's some part of the problem.

You sound like you're hyperventilating, but it's just a flat description of what is going on.

Insane. Clean energy is job creation and stability for those doing these jobs.
This is part of what’s so insane. As they talk about re-shoring and manufacturing they are actively trying to destroy an entire us manufacturing industry that already exists.
Billions of dollars in clean energy projects have been canceled since Donald Trump took office again — leaving thousands of jobs and the shift to clean energy in doubt.

#hudsonvalley friends show up w/ me in kingston! Don’t bring your phones, DO bring a sense of agency.
I have friends who are not bring cell phones to rallies this weekend.

My response was that if they come for me (white, relatively wealthy, suburban woman with a “professional” career) than we have already lost.

Get out in the streets on Saturday - before you are scared to be in the streets.

Genuine question w/ this conversation circulating in professional punditry - y’all keep sayin trump is a great marketer…

But beyond making personal wealth from his efforts, marketing is supposed to convert for business. And he’s a terrible businessman.

Square this circle for me.

Client base please read @emilypeck.bsky.social’s axios piece
There's really no find other options when it comes to clothing. 97% of what Americans buy is from foreign countries. And more than half from the ones hardest hit by tariffs www.axios.com/2025/04/03/t...
Trump tariffs could trigger a surge in clothing prices
The U.S. imports nearly all of its clothing and shoes.

The tariffs are catastrophic. But so too are the abuses of power, so is the corruption, so are the police state tactics, so is the destruction of our health care infrastructure, so are the ways our national security is being endangered, so are the attacks on our core freedoms.
April 3, 2025 at 12:16 PM
Highly recommend everyone to read @chrismurphyct.bsky.social full thread. Very enlightening even if also very horrifying.
Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

Trump is the most economically illiterate President of my lifetime. Which is particularly disturbing when you consider that his supporters love him because he’s, in their view, a business genius.

Some voters got mad about people listing their pronouns, so now we're sending law-abiding, legal immigrants to torture prisons and being hit with the largest middle class tax hike in at least 40 years.

Forget that the deportation was illegal, or that habeas corpus rights were ignored.

The U.S. government asserting it can't get the dude back from our new best buds in El Salvador is some ultra weak shit.
