The only notice was this yellow sign, sorry we didn't know sooner! @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social the company who closed the street off appears to be Class One Traffic Management.

A cycle mechanic emerges from the door of the Wee Spoke Hub, Edinburgh's inclusive cycle workshop, test-riding a white Peugeot drop-bar bicycle. We were privileged to do warranty repairs on this bad boy, a brand new Rayvolt Clubman e-bike. Now heavily modified, incl vintage license plates, headlamp, voltmeter(!), speedometer, valve caps, and fire extinguisher! 😍
E-bike system remains (of course) road-legal and safe.

These stats from the City of London (aka the square mile) are unbelievable. They’ve already exceeded their 2030 targets. Cycling up 70% since 2017, motor traffic down 34%.

The full report is v interesting - they do proper traffic surveys every 2 years.

Spokes 2025 competition, intro to the post #SpokesComp 2025 : My Favourite Bike Ride For our 2025 summer competition we’d like to hear about your favourite local bike ride, in Edinburgh and/or the Lothians. It may be a leisure ride, or your daily commute or perhaps the school ‘run’ with your kids. In judging the competition, we want to know not just the route itself but, most of all, why this ride is so special to you. Hopefully your entry will entice or inspire other people to get on their bike and try the same or something similar. So that the competition does not require technical skills, judging will be based on written entries. Your route should be fairly easy to describe, without too many intricate instructions, frequent turnings, etc. Photos and/or a sketch can be included and often help, but are not essential.
