When bitty paw paw was dying he was intubated. He was desperate to tell me something. I just told him is was okay. It makes me cry when I think what he might’ve needed to tell me. He took good care of his family so I do too. Maybe that was it.

In the past I’ve felt my parents and forebears took care of me and provided a path for me. Now I believe it is our children who will save what they fought so hard to establish. We’ve rotted from the inside and the old ways seem to have died. I have great faith in the youthful next generation.

There’s a part of me that would have loved to have a conversation about gun rights in the US with non-citizens abroad back before we became a right wing kakistocracy. Now nothing we talk about will ever be based on commonality. It’s essentially why Americans have lost the ability internally.
