Fun little online game if you fancy a public transport challenge across Europe without the hours at freezing bus stops: how fast can you get from Inverness to the Rock of Gibraltar with £500 to spend? (I’ve managed 1 day 22hrs 10min and had to walk up the Rock having run out of money) geo-racers.com

Good grief 🤦🏻‍♂️ … the world has gone mad. Cornish deli’s legal bid to ban a cookbook as they claim they own the word “vegetable”. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so worrying.
I called my recipe book Sabzi – vegetables. But the name was trademarked. And my legal ordeal began

In today’s Russian papers there’s scepticism over the current round of diplomacy. One paper: “The European-Ukrainian gang will ‘correct’ Trump’s plan so that it’s unacceptable for Russia.” Another: “I don’t think the Special Military Operation will end this year.” #ReadingRussia
In the Russian papers, much scepticism about the peace plan.

Is The Times using AI to write its obits now? A weird one for the pirate DJ and broadcaster Tom Edwards makes a glaring error in the 1st par., calling the Radio Caroline ship in the 60s the Ross Revenge (it was the Mi Amigo); and amid the general cut-and-paste confusion are sentences like this:

Only 3 days left on BBC Sounds to catch @drmatthewsweet.bsky.social last ever edition of Sound of Cinema. A love letter to the movies and to the joy of looking deeper, of complexity.
There are fewer and fewer programmes of this depth on R3 so grab it while you can.

Manic day, so no time for a full analysis of the European Sleeper to run Paris-Berlin night trains from Spring 2026, so just this quick thread

Important: chances this happens are GOOD, upwards of 80%

Chances it can’t launch in spring and start is delayed is higher than it not happening at all

There are hurdles - doing it by then isn’t simple - but this can happen.

Interesting fact … also, does anyone still buy the Radio Times? (Apart from the Christmas double issue…for old Times sake)
It's just occurred to me that it's now more expensive to read about the TV (£286 per year) than it is to watch the TV (£174.50 per year).

Well, that’s brought a tear to the eye 😢. What a beautiful tribute.
Prunella Scales, who has died aged 93, was superb as Sybil in Fawlty Towers and in so many other roles. Here’s my musical tribute to a wonderful actress.
