It’s really important to the rich that the middle class believe poverty is a moral failure.

Let me repeat that for people in the back:

IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO THE RICH THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEE POVERTY AS A MORAL FAILURE AND NOT A SYSTEMIC AND SOCIETAL FAILURE.
“Quiet, piggy.”

Quiet, piggy - it’s fine that journalist was killed because I like the guy who killed him.

Quiet, piggy - the human traffickers are talking.

Quiet, piggy - two legs good, four legs bad.

Don’t piss “quiet piggy” onto his eventual grave. The Steele dossier said he’s into that.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

The Democratic Party would be a lot better if it had embraced Zohran Mamdani the way it's embracing Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Tis the season when my kitchen is consistently too cold to prove bread in a timely manner so I bought a proofing box and it’s pretty cool. It has a window.

NEW: When Andrew Tate landed in the US, Customs & Border Protection seized his electronic devices. But @propublica.org found that a White House official told DHS to return the devices, emphasizing that the request came from the White House.

The White House Intervened on Behalf of Accused Sex Trafficker Andrew Tate During a Federal Investigation
Federal authorities were chided for seizing electronic devices from Tate and his brother, and told to return them, records and interviews show. Experts said the intervention was highly inappropriate.

Yesterday I learned about Tennessee walking horses and the big lick gait and holy crap what is wrong with people?

I need a weird little rabbit hole that ends in a peaceful glade sometimes and not always the one that pops up in Watership Down.

with Marjorie Taylor Greene being kind of a whack job and magic the gathering rolling every IP it can into the game, it’s taking longer and longer to decipher which one posts about “MTG” are actually referencing lately

Megyn Kelly looks an awful lot like Ann Coulter these days. I hope she spends time thinking about how much conservative men loooooove older women, especially smart ones and the implications that has for her career. I’m sure her glee at shoving the young into harms way isn’t self-serving at all.

Not old enough to see a rated R movie but old enough to meaningfully consent to acts that would make a movie rated R.

Sure, Jan.

Hey you guys remember how we chose the bear and lots of men got super offended and tried to berate the women into saying something different?

Yeah.

Look around. Ain’t no bears in those Epstein files. Ain’t no bears kidnapping kids for ICE. Ain’t no bears telling us 15 is plenty old enough.

Olivia Nuzzi is reminding everyone how she slept with one of the grosser members of this administration and honestly, I love that for Cheryl Hines.

I want to believe the silly rumor but we know damn well Trump isn’t interested in giving pleasure to anyone. He’s not giving a blow job. And it’s not because there’s penis and it’s gay. It’s because there isn’t anything in it for him. What does he care if someone else has an orgasm?

Megan Kelly watched Taken and wondered how to sign her kid up.

I absolutely expected them all to start trotting out “it’s not pedo because they’re teens” but man. Any woman leading that charge is a soulless monster who absolutely knows better.

It is one of the few universal experiences:

The thing about dudes who are into teenagers is that we all know it’s because they’re stunted. And the thing about cranking up a war in Venezuela is that we all know it’s because the president and his friends like sleeping with teenagers.

And we know Christians fine with it.

Slightly longer thing but I think it’s interesting:

Jeanne Shaheen is retiring and her kid - a “health care advocate” is running for congress. So there was a potential path for Jeanne where she said something like ‘I think it’s important to reopen the government, seven of my colleagues have … ⬇️

Remember, their good white boys are kids and not responsible for anything. The brown boys are basically men and should be treated as very scary adults.

Girls and women are property and the difference between them is dependent on who she belongs to and who was hurt.

The papadum I bought recently invites customers to follow their social media, providing links to Facebook and LinkedIn and Twitter. Such is the mess of Twitter’s rebrand - the food company used the Twitter logo and this whole post uses the deadname even though the new name would let me say more.

My partner asked, “Do we actually know that the voters in NH dislike what the senators did?” Given he’s the one with all the hope about the midterms, I find that question really ominous.
November 13, 2025 at 10:03 AM
When I email one of my state politicians, I make sure to include a personal note to the staffer actually reading the letter. I don’t think it makes a difference but it feels like I’m trying... something. I don’t know.

Today’s letter asked the senator’s minion: “is she who you believe in?”

Now that it isn’t Edmund Fitzgerald day I can confess that I think that song is about 2 minutes too long and lacks impactful dynamics. It’s poignant and generally nice but musically it starts in a place and doesn’t really go anywhere. It just spins and then stops like a dog lying down.

@stefanyshaheen.com

Make sure the elder Shaheen knows that since we can’t make *her* feel the effects of this recent vote, it will blow back on the people she supports. A candidate with such a weak and cowardly name might be rethinking the nepotistic desire that lead them to use it professionally.
November 11, 2025 at 10:32 AM
I hope the Shaheen family thanksgiving is maximum awkward with Shaheen the younger expressing nothing but disdain for the elder Shaheen’s vote, knowing that vote might tank the younger’s political ambitions. I don’t have the opportunity to vote against the younger but I damn well would.
