The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program is not a political tool for the President’s administration to reward organizations that support him while punishing organizations that he dislikes. The Trump Administration lacks the legal authority to take this action.

My office has first-hand experience supporting victims of crime in accessing federally-funded programs, and I am suing to protect this funding for all Vermonters who need it, regardless of their immigration status. These programs make entire communities safer and more resilient.

The Trump Administration is trying to unlawfully reallocate federal homeland security funding based on a state’s willingness to comply with the Administration’s political agenda. But under the Constitution, it is Congress – not the President – who has the power of the purse.

Vermonters need and deserve access to reproductive and preventative health care. In a rural state like ours - where medical providers are few and far between - the loss of Medicaid reimbursements for Planned Parenthood will leave Vermonters without access to basic care.

Windham County, please join me this Sunday at 2:00 PM for a Town Hall discussion at Brattleboro Union High School. Along with Senator Nader Hashim and Rep. Emilie Kornheiser, I’ll share updates and answer questions about my work defending democracy and Vermont values. Hope to see you there!

This school year, I want transgender students and their families to know that we love you, we support you, and we’ll fight for you every single day.
We brought together attorneys general from across the country to tell trans students: We see you. You belong here. And we will fight for you. As this school year kicks off, know that you are not alone, and we will work to make sure all schools are safe for every student.

The President’s use of the National Guard to police DC streets threatens the rule of law — and DC’s Attorney General is fighting to stop it.

We stand with DC and @dcattorneygeneral.bsky.social because today it’s the 202, but tomorrow it could be the 802.
NEW: We are suing to block the unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to DC.

Armed soldiers should not be policing American citizens on American soil.

The forced military occupation of the District of Columbia violates our local autonomy and basic freedoms. It must end.

My office has first-hand experience supporting victims of crime in accessing federally-funded programs, which are designed to give victims and survivors of crime greater agency over their own recovery and healing. I am suing to protect this funding for the Vermonters who need it.

Vermont was proud to join this coalition in standing up for our environment.
We strongly urge federal agencies to immediately halt plans to roll back regulations implementing the National Environmental Policy Act.

This unlawful plan undermines transparency, weakens environmental safeguards, and silences communities NEPA was designed to protect.

I remain fully committed to protecting Vermonters’ access to reproductive and preventative health care. In a rural state like ours, where medical providers are few and far between, the loss of Medicaid reimbursements for Planned Parenthood will leave Vermonters without access to basic care.

Social safety net programs are meant to benefit those who need them most and improve the overall health and well-being of entire communities. The Trump administration’s illegal attempts to restrict access to these programs will undoubtedly harm many of our neighbors.

We should be doing everything we can to make health care more accessible – not harder and more expensive for millions of Americans.

I will fight the President’s attempts to unlawfully roll back coverage for Vermonters, including efforts to take away coverage for gender-affirming care.

For the past three summers, severe floods have devastated Vermont communities by destroying homes, damaging businesses, and washing out rural roads and bridges. We can expect these disasters to continue – and we must prepare by building more resilient infrastructure to protect our communities.

Once again, the President wishes to unconstitutionally undo appropriations made by Congress. I am going to keep fighting for our Constitution, for Vermont schools, and for the future of our country. Read more here: ago.vermont.gov/blog/2025/07...

Vermonters know that environmental justice will make us safer, more resilient, and better equipped to prepare for and respond to climate impacts. We have experienced three back to back summers of flooding, and this will likely continue in the coming decades.

Meta’s business model is built around addicting teens and children to their platforms using algorithms and deceptive practices that exploit the vulnerabilities of these youth. I brought a lawsuit against Meta to stop these harms, and now I’m supporting other states in their lawsuits against Meta.

In this country, we have a right to privacy when we go to the doctor. The Trump administration’s disregard for this right is not only illegal, it is a violation of the public’s trust.

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which overturned decades of precedent affirming our right to abortion care. That same year, here in Vermont the majority of voters in all 251 towns voted to enshrine our right to abortion in our constitution.

If President Trump wanted the power of the purse, he should have run for Congress. The President must faithfully execute the laws passed by Congress – including dispersing federal funding for states.

In Vermont, public media is a critical source of news and means of connecting community. It’s also an important source of safe, educational programming for kids.

As a mom and as a consumer of Vermont’s public media, I’m proud to stand up for this vital part of our media landscape.

Happy Juneteenth, Vermont! Even though Vermont was the first colony to outlaw slavery in 1777, we still commemorate the day when the news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached enslaved people in Texas. Communities across the country celebrated today as Freedom Day for over 150 years.

I am very disappointed by the Court’s decision, which will undoubtedly strip lifesaving care from transgender youth in many states. I agree with Justice Sotomayor that today the Court abandoned trans youth and their families. Today marks a dark moment for equal protections in this county.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, one of the court’s three liberals, wrote a scathing dissent criticizing her conservative colleagues’ decision to uphold a state ban on some medical treatments for transgender youths.
Sotomayor’s Dissent Criticizes Supreme Court Decision in Transgender Care Case
Justice Sotomayor also read her dissent from the bench, a move typically reserved to emphasize a justice’s extreme displeasure with a decision.

Purdue and the Sackler family created and perpetuated the opioid crisis, which stole the lives of our loved ones, neighbors, and community members. Today I am announcing a nationwide settlement, which can never undo the suffering that has touched nearly every Vermont family…

Job Corps is a crucial vocational program that keeps young people in our state while offering them the tools they need to thrive. The Trump administration cannot violate federal law and the Constitution by terminating congressionally mandated programs it opposes. Today I’m filing an amicus brief…

Great news! Today a federal court BLOCKED President Trump’s unconstitutional executive order which would have disenfranchised American voters. Our right to vote is sacred and fundamental to democracy. In Vermont, our tradition of exercising our democratic right to vote is strong.
