Saw a lot of headlines saying "wikipedia is embracing ai" being tossed around tabloids, and I'm pretty sure they were maliciously written to make you feel a certain way about Wikipedia. What's actually happening is that wikipedia is demanding payment for data scraping and the corpos don't like that.
Sure. AI companies have ALWAYS been training their models on Wikipedia content, which under the free and open access model is available to anyone — including AI companies. Agreements like these require AI companies to limit and offset the strain they place on Wikimedia infrastructure.

If a Democrat were to run on a platform of banning almost all AI they would win in a landslide, by the way I’m proposing a “Technology Bill of Rights“ to ban almost all AI
The White House policy on AI:
-Suppress federal bills on AI
-Suppress states from regulating AI
-Sell advanced AI chips to China

This has led the tech industry down the wrong path with increasing backlash. They should ask their large language models for a better approach.

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

the discourse on what jobs are acceptable to replace with generative AI reveals a lot about what we think of other people's jobs

my 75yo mother told me last night that she’s planning to delete Instagram and Facebook because she’s sick of not being able to tell what’s AI and what’s not, and I genuinely don’t think tech companies have reckoned with this kind of move as an actual possibility

Excuse me, Bluesky? I am 30 years old who lives in PA and we require no such thing. Why should I have to give you my location and share my personal data just to allow me to see my mutual's work? What the actual hell, I feel so randomly targeted. I demand an explanation.

what do yall think about using this feature to make unflattering/humiliating edits of photos of elon musk
For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

denying the existence of ai slop is really dumb and very poopoo

Since X has created a machine for removing Glaze and in violation of the Glaze application creating derivative works via AI … I hope this comes up at the Class Action suit against X.
Anyone who chooses to remove Glaze from art in order to feed it to AI is saying …

“I am willfully, knowingly , and malicious subverting the intention of the copyright holder in favor of for my personal interests”
For those who don’t know. Glaze in the context of AI is a technique of making art art confusing to AI while making it virtually unchanged to the human eye.

An Artist using Glaze on their work is effectively saying:

“I in no way consent to my copyrighted works being used by AI in any way”

"This doesn't affect you because you animate, so you are fine."

No. This sucks and this is really dangerous.

In solidarity with all artists, Please be cautious.

I know many will remain on Twitter because they have mostly everything here but be aware this time it's worse than the other times.
Heads up to artists still using Twitter- Twitter is now adding an "Edit image" button under all images posted on the site that allows everyone to feed it into genAI and modify it as they wish with a prompt

There was a time about 20 years ago where lying, annoying and sometimes dangerous ads like this were only seen much on seedy third-party sites & random blogs, instead of being featured at the top of YouTube app with priority as common practice. The intolerance for this sort of manipulation has gone.
