World Health Network experts urge WHO to make N95, KN95, or FFP2 respirators the standard for protection for healthcare workers, not inferior surgical masks.

I don’t agree with this. Police are in high risk jobs for COVID and flu and other infections. The number one cause of death for police several years running wss COVID. They should be able to wear medical masks at all times with no exceptions.

In love this story so much

Pilot programme massively boosts hepatitis B “birth dose” vaccination in Nigeria’s Delta state

For those who have been led to believe that this year’s flu vaccine doesn’t work, this isn’t the case.

ER visits and hospital admissions are reduced by 72–75% in children and adolescents, and by 32–39% in adults.

Early influenza virus characterisation and vaccine effectiveness in England in autumn 2025, a period dominated by influenza A(H3N2) subclade K
Influenza A(H3N2) subclade K (J.2.4.1) has dominated the 2025/26 season start in England. Post-infection ferret antisera raised against northern hemisphere 2025/26 vaccine strains showed reduced reactivity to subclade K viruses in England, aligning ...

It’s nice of Nick Shirley to be going around testing the emergency response and active assailant plans of daycare centers, especially with how much gun violence we have in this country. I’m glad to see so many responding with correct lockdown protocols!

It seems like the US is losing our status as far as measles elimination. Is there any kind of analysis of what that means?
The measles outbreak in South Carolina is “accelerating” with no end in sight following Thanksgiving and other large gatherings, state health officials say.

Got the flu last year on Thanksgiving and it really sucked. Obviously vaccine is no guarantee you won’t get it, but it’s basically free with no downside and is, imho, a no-brainer.

There was a horrible pertussis outbreak a state over from us a few months before I had my son. I reminded my OB until they got the boosters in stock and had everyone who wanted to be around my son get a booster also. Whooping cough is still serious and deadly for babies 💔
3 infant #pertussis deaths this year in Kentucky. "Of the three infant deaths reported over the past 12 months, all three were not vaccinated, nor were their mothers."

We first tested maternal vaccination for whooping cough over 80 years ago. It's safe & effective & might have saved these babies.

These situations are rampant across Maryland right now.
Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.
