Meant to mention this last week, but if you have a young person in your life who’s into history or graphic novels or just good books, buy them George Takei’s “They Called Us Enemy.” My oldest couldn’t put it down.

“If the duck can’t swim, it’s not the water that’s stupid” 😆
A Hungarian equivalent to “a bad workman blames his tools” is ha egy kacsa nem tud úszni nem a víz a hülye. It means “if the duck can't swim, it's not the water that's stupid”

* And if you want more international duck phrases and facts, the following thread should fit the bill…

Data is mounting that the shingles vaccine is protective against dementia. It's not definitive, but it's interesting. In addition, the effect is more pronounced for women. vajenda.substack.com/p/is-the-shi...

Pierre Poilievre says Canadians are too obsessed with race because of “wokeism” and agrees with Jordan Peterson that Canada essentially had to invent and import racism because it didn’t exist here before recent decades.

Canada is so fucked if this guy forms government.

Today I learned there is potential for life changing therapies from menstrual blood stem cells, (MenSCs). Similar to bone marrow stem cells but rapidly reproducing. Wow. Embarrassing, hidden, dirty, old period blood.

I keep reading versions of this thought from people I respect: It’s personal, political, engagement we need to advance; to move from socials to literal conversations is the combat zone. Ethical outrage without power isn’t enough.
Here's Pete Buttigieg:
“We’ve got to figure out how to take online conversations offline at scale,” he said. “While it is not obvious how to do that, that is something that through human history until about 15 years ago, we all did."
Pete Buttigieg to Democrats: ‘Move quickly through the shock’ of Trump’s worst impulses
He told progressives that the former and incoming president will be a chaos agent and to focus on talking to Americans instead of getting stuck on Donald Trump’s antics.
