I think your analysis is flawed and has fallen prey to “virtue signaling” shit that republicans have used to discredit every social movement under the sun.
You could also say “I try to be a feminist” because you’re open to being corrected, which is where most of those sorts of guys fail

Like when my sister tells male friends that she's a feminist their first reaction is surprise, remarking that it's weird because she is so *reasonable*. The right's campaign against feminism worked so well that it's now associated with radical misandry even for relatively left-leaning people.
