I spotted this at Eden Lookout, New South Wales, a few years back. Whoever came up with the text had obviously never lived in England, I've gone whole days without it!

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SYMPATHY … MISSED

Politicising tragedy
In such extreme adversity
Ignoring human empathy
Blame it on diversity

Narcissistic tendency
Ego filled pomposity
Makes America grate again
Dangerous monstrosity

Please believe me when I say that at a local level we are all trying our best to make churches safe places for people to flourish. Your average parish priest is doing everything they can.

@wombat37.bsky.social a stepped water feature at Chatsworth House. Sadly turned off currently for long-term maintenance, this was from 10 years ago.

This statue of Sir Tom Finney is called Splash. It is at the Preston North End Football Club ground, in Deepdale, Preston. It is representative of an iconic photograph from 1956 taken at Stamford Bridge of Sir Tom.

•68% of people in poverty are in work

•4 in 10 people on Universal Credit are in work

•7 in 10 children in poverty are in a working household

Where's the dignity in that?

Get employers to pay proper wages, instead of propping them up with taxpayers money - since you are 'the party of business'

I've already posted one #SundayPixLandmark for @wombat37.bsky.social but having tried to resolve an issue with Bluesky not accessing photos and succeeding, here's another taken about 6 weeks later.

Imagine, if we just gave 300 refugees £1.8M each (or even 1000 refugees £600k, or 10,000 refugees £60k each) to start their new lives in the UK instead?
£1,800,000 *per person* to send the first 300 deportees to Rwanda.

That’s more than half a billion pounds in total.

No evidence that it will work as a “stop the boats” deterrent.

What an inhumane, profligate farce. Entirely in keeping with this shambolic so-called government.

Enough. GE now!

As if January isn't difficult enough generally, this morning my bishops wrote by email that I won't get a stipend payment this month, but will get two in February. They have apologised even though it's a national problem not local and offered help with costs if affected.
