I'm enjoying dipping into them in order, just to make sure I've read all of them. I originally read Winter Holiday, then Coot Club before Swallows and Amazons. If I'm not mistaken there are as many set away from the Lake District as in.

It's not closing the fridge door, but getting hand sensors on taps and hand dryers to respond that really exercise me. It's almost as if I'm not there as far as they're concerned.

Nottinghamshire and Cheshire broadly share the same latitude. Nottinghamshire is definitely Midlands yet Cheshire the North IMHO. Then a colleague posited that anywhere north/west of Fosse Way is North, including Cornwall.

I benefit from a CPAP machine, regular consumables for it; daily medication for diabetes; a splint to counteract foot drop from permanent nerve damage; and have had 2 discectomies all at Nil cost at the point of need. I am happy to pay my taxes, and was even before I needed all these.

At an ordination my parish priest took me along to the Minster as an Eucharist Assistant. I was handed a chalice that was twice the volume of the parish one, full. Before even empty, the Dean refilled it. 4 communicants later I returned it to the credence table. I refused to drain it, I was driving.
