The slasher/killer cheap-o exploitation horror movie that is ‘The Terminator’, had to walk so the slasher/killer cheap-o exploitation horror movie that is ‘Terminator 2’ could morph into liquid metal.
Lots of folks love and prefer Terminator 2, and with those amped-up action sequences and gamechanging special effects, I totally get the argument.
But personally, I always dug the original Terminator. It had the grimy, unsettling feel of a slasher with a sci-fi engine. THAT felt unrelenting.

I am loudly critical of James Cameron's antics and movies, but this one is still his best. While 2 and Aliens are the better made films, Terminator 1 is aesthetically my favorite as it's basically a Cyberpunk Slasher movie.
