Saddened by the death of Pope Francis, who was a wonderful force for good. I hope the Catholic Church stays true to his vision of economic and environmental justice.

Liberals who argue that fascists such as Trump and Le Pen should not be barred from running elections by legal means (and must instead be 'defeated democratically') seem to forget that fascists have no intent to win democratically (and break the law precisely to assure that they won't be defeated).

I always struggle a little to explain my students why Marxists are right about freedom in the capitalist state. Jeff Bezos does it so much better.
New: Jeff Bezos emailed staff at the Washington Post this morning announcing that the Post opinion pages going forward were largely going to focus on defending personal liberties and free markets. Current opinion section editor David Shipley is out.

Wow this paper is fantastic. An economic explanation for Haslanger's theory of race, of DuBois on the psychological wage, and of the different racial stratifications of different societies.

Sometimes I read an econ paper that makes me wish I became an economist...
