Good, pretty well balanced article. I am extremely wary of anyone in the industry being labelled an auteur for a whole host of reasons, chiefly because it simultaneously puts them on a pedestal (not everything they do is 'good') and eliminates or downplays the work of others at their studios.
Do auteurs like Hideo Kojima increase the understanding of how we make games, or obscure it?
