I do think it’s a special case with Frankenstein, and the biggest sin of GDT’s Frankenstein is that it plays at accurate book adaptation while clearly doing its own thing.

A friend has a theory that we’re getting adaptations of famous books (Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights) that are more about the writer/director’s “feelings” or memories of the books rather than an actual interrogation of or engagement w. what source material is doing bc only IP is getting greenlit rn

The problem with Apocalyptic Demon Threat narratives is that it's easy to use it as justification for fascism and twist morally grey complexity into black-and-white absolutism. If after Rogue Trader chaos was never added, the whole vibe of the story would be different, and probably more interesting.
"Only Chaos is bad" is such a weak ass take. Like the whole ass point of the Imperium is that power will do evil to maintain control because it's easier than making lives better even if doing so would actually eliminate the threat of their enemies.
