Didn’t get out this week, so from the archives, as it is now in the UK, a couple of Calvia decemguttata (White-spot Ladybird) larvae from France a few years ago. #Coccinellidae #Ladybird #France

A new Ladybird species for me this morning. Adonis Ladybird (Hippodamia variegata) found hibernating in some dried beans from the allotment that were being podded.

Seven Pine Ladybirds extracted from Larch and Douglas Fir during yesterday's wildlife group trip to Bicton, Shrewsbury. This was just one trayful - the trees were full of them.

After only finding a couple of 2 spot Ladybirds (Adalia bipunctata) all year it was a pleasant surprise to find one hibernating indoors (got disturbed but soon found a place to settle down). @rockwolf74.bsky.social

So glad you didn’t fly away home, but stayed with us while we drank coffee, al fresco 🫶 I’d never met one of your kind before and you were most delightful 🧡 #macroMonday #beetles #minibugs #somethingnew #minibeasts

Arawana scapularis, a lady beetle species native to the SW US. Very few records exist for this species which shocked me since I found dozens on sycamore trees in the heart of Santa Fe, NM. Just happened to catch them as I walked by. It's why I always have my camera on me! #coccinellidae #inverts

A Red-rumped Ladybird, Scymnus haemorrhoidalis, vacuumed from Polytrichum moss whilst looking for Snow Fleas last Weds. One of the commoner micro ladybirds but it seems to vanish at some points in the year & then reappear in winter, when we start to find it again.

It was good to find Rhyzobius lophanthae (Bristly Ladybird) yesterday, in its typical habitat (!!), from grasses at the base of a Salix, next to a pond! 😂 With the rather more typical 16-spot #AlwaysExpectTheUnexpected #VC40Ladybirds #MicroLadybird

It’s not often that I find a slightly different 7-spot Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata), so it was good to see one today with very reduced central spots! #VC40Ladybirds

It has taken over two years for @vc40ladybirds.bsky.social & I to attract another Willow Ladybird (Scymnus limbatus), an extremely small & elusive species, to the refugia we designed in an attempt to learn more about them. It has been a long wait but we found one yesterday, plus an Anthocorid bug
