Leave it to me to have written about one of Béla Tarr's least known films--it's a good one, though! He was an absolutely towering figure. Thanks to @nwfilmforum.bsky.social for bringing most of his films to Seattle. I love that he went out, as it were, with 2011's unsparing The Turin Horse.

I just wanted to watch something off my home server and forgot that one of the pre-rolls on my plex server is 8 minutes long.
It's a concession commercial. "Please remember to leave your speaker on the post when you leave the theater." 🤣 Now I don't even remember what movie I started.

Fwiw, first day back wasn't awful.
(glad to totally wreck the rest of my year)
Yesterday was 10 years with the company. I like the work I've done. I like who I do it for less and less.

NEW: The SIFF Cinema Uptown was packed Saturday for a special screening of NO OTHER CHOICE, Park Chan-wook’s searing satire about job loss due to restructuring. Today, SIFF began its own organization-wide restructuring & layoffs 📽️

While talking enthusiastically with a friend (you know who you are) about Tessa Thompson's performance in Hedda, recalled another terrific performance of hers in a very good movie that's rarely mentioned, Sylvie's Love (Eugene Ashe hasn't made another movie since):

Great work today! I'm going to need you to reset your section and do a roll out of 20 before you clock out, and make sure the 86 board is current.
