A reminder that the Epstein files still haven't been released in accordance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. And the DOJ has now claimed that Congress has no right to appoint a Special Master to compel their release. Corrupt regime is corrupt.

Release the files.

Herbert is such a great hero precisely because he's simply not hero material at all. Yet he acknowledges his responsibility to go after Stevenson & that it's just the right thing to do, even if he can't match his foe in terms of violence or guile. But he's a better, smarter man with brains & heart.

My first Malcolm McDowell movie. I fell in love with his sweet, idealistic, naive, romantic hero. And I sure was cued up for a harsh culture shock when I found out what sort of roles he usually gets.

Right on. And I second the call for a book of your film essays. Sounds invaluable.

I grew up in New Jersey and would frequently have to take two, maybe even three trains to go see a movie that was only showing in New York City. And it didn't feel weird, it was just something I had to do in order to have a special experience.

Piercing the veil of dogmatic fears to confront demons within and without seems to be the unifying theme of this pair of Val Lewton classics (Cat People & I Walked With A Zombie) and the two 28 Years Later epics. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #FilmSky #horrorsky #28YearsLater #ValLewton

A ★★★★ review of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026)
