Love this painted glass window I came across last week in tenement in the Shawlands area of Glasgow.

Powerful to see the five maquettes for the new Mandela statue for Glasgow. Brought back memories of meeting him in Newfoundland -- a story in itself -- not long after his release, and for my husband, a Mandela Marcher to London. Amandla!

Wish I could be there tomorrow, but still happy to be included with formidable films:

It’s 50 years today since the official opening of the Forties Field in the North Sea. The energy boom benefited many, but others believe the legacy has been squandered. I talked to experts, including the man who helped set up Norway’s oil fund! www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/6664...
Did the north east make the best of its energy boom 50 years after Queen Elizabeth opened the Forties Field?

Early 20th century Halloween postcards loved a verse. This one references the history behind the tradition of fancy dress at this time. This comes from guising, where people would try and avoid the ghosts and spirits of All Hallows through disguise. That fed into what we now do on October 31.

Heading there now! 😊

Working with Scottish Women's Institutes heritage, thanks to @heritagefunduk.bsky.social, is fascinating. This day started with SWI '70s theatrical tapestry designs. It moved on to recording the granddaughter of a friend of founder 'Cathy' Blair, and viewing her unique Mak Merry pottery. Brilliant!
