TediousTextiles on instagram. I love to knit, crochet, embroider, and quilt to avoid dwelling on societal collapse. No I’m not a tradwife - but my wife is 😉
(That is a joke, she’s just a good baker)

I’m going through WPA posters in the Library of Congress for another project, and came across this PSA.

“Hey Jim, we need you to design a poster that tells people syphilis is curable!”

“…okay but I’m gonna put dinosaurs on it.”

“Whatever man, just make sure it’s relevant.”

I think what is making everyone so angry isn’t just the cowardice of Senate Democrats, it’s their cowardice in comparison to the random normal person who runs for school board to oust a Moms for Liberty freak

🔔 Measles case confirmed in Michigan. Exposure may have occurred at the locations below. This is especially dangerous for kids who have not had the MMR vaccine.

Unfortunate that I’m getting my recall info at random, but for anyone who drinks Int’l Delight! I always do because we’re still boycotting Nestle.
More than 75K bottles of popular coffee creamer recalled: See brand, flavors
Danone issued the voluntary recall after the company received "complaints of spoilage and illness," according to the FDA.

Okay who wants to run for Senate in Michigan and won’t capitulate to fascists on a regular basis? That’s my only bar and I’ll be working on your campaign.

At the very least, everyone please wear masks on public transit like planes. We do not need this outbreak sweeping the country!
Cases in the Texas measles outbreak are now up to 259, an increase of 36 cases since Tuesday. Total U.S. measles cases are now higher than they were for all of 2024. RFK Jr. continues to spread misinformation about MMR vaccines. This is epidemiology hell.

If measles appears in your state, I would recommend masking in public consistently again. I know many immunocompromised people never stopped masking, but measles is one of the most contagious diseases, persisting in the air even after an infected person leaves.

I guarantee you they are miserable in real life too. Imagine being so dissatisfied with yourself, even after plastic surgery and multiple partners bearing your children, that you feel the need to work “120 hour” drug-fueled weeks just to ruin other people’s lives. Misery loves company.
Succession and White Lotus are important television for our times because it's fun and therapeutic to see wealthy people with fabulous lives be absolutely miserable.

If you haven’t seen The Wiz, I hope Cynthia Erivo’s performance just now convinces you! My wife and I have been arguing for years about whether our child should see The Wiz or Wizard of Oz first…as a result he has seen neither 🤣

I wish I could tell President Zelensky how sorry I am that he was treated like that. Watching that debacle had the air of when your kid misbehaves for company. Like, I know you’re a twerp to ME, but please don’t act like that when we have people over! 😩
NEW: A searing editorial in the The Kyiv Independent.

“It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up.

“A president just disrespected America in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky.”

In the nick of time for the last day of #BlackHistoryMonth - Bessie Coleman ❤️ She was such an inspirational, determined woman. And of course we love a legendary aviator in this house.

Made of scrap/remnant fabric and a thrifted vintage frame!

My heart goes out to the family of this child. It’s terrible that a vaccine-preventable disease is already running rampant again. Please vaccinate your children on schedule.
A measles outbreak in West Texas and New Mexico has killed a school-age child and sickened more than 130 people.

Public health experts fear it’s only the beginning, says @lisamjarvis.bsky.social:
Measles Outbreak Was Entirely Avoidable
Low vaccination rates contributed to the re-emergence of a disease declared eradicated in the US 25 years ago.

Today’s #FiberuaryChallenge is “where in the world.” A lot of people are posting travel photos and fiber festivals, but I don’t have that kind of money 😅 Here’s one of the first quilts I made; flags to represent my heritage! Terrible photo quality because it was at least ten years ago.

Today’s #FiberuaryChallenge is Handmade Gifts. Creating things for my family is my favorite hobby! Below are some mittens I knit for my mom - the white yarn glows in the dark.

Latest #FiberArt - I would love to see this go to someone who works/worked for our National Parks @altnps.bsky.social which are one of the best ideas America ever had. Photo reference confirmed to be in public domain by an NPS archivist. We know you work hard! Not everything needs to make a profit 😒

Running for office is hard. I didn’t think I’d win but I tried and I got elected! Ask me for help. We need good people back in charge, not career politicians with ulterior motives.
It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Today’s #FiberuaryChallenge is #NowAndThen. I thought I’d showcase an older embroidery (the jacaranda tree) next to one of my more recent works. I’m still not where I’d like to be, skill-wise, but getting there!

Today’s #FiberuaryChallenge is #WearItWednesday! I love making items I can wear. This sweater says “Trust me - I have good morels” because I love to go mushroom hunting 😅 Notice I’m posing at the alpaca exhibit at the zoo. If I ever disappear, you’ll probably find me in the UP raising alpacas!

Today’s #FiberuaryChallenge is TwosDay! I rarely knit socks because they take so long, but these were from the book Fellowship of the Knits and feature the leaf design of the fellowship‘s elven brooch. They’re made from alpaca and easily my favorite socks!
