I was attracted by the mixture of leaves and foam spinning in the pool, so I put on the ND filter and took couple of long exposures. There was no wind at all and the atmosphere was completed by the thick fog 🤩

Including the neverending stress of being autistic in a neurotypical society

It all plays into the growing narrative that autism and ADHD are "over diagnosed", rather than just better recognised. It's the equivalent of saying that people were "over diagnosed" as being left handed when schools stopped penalising them for not writing with their right hand. 2/

Found this very relatable. The isolation is absolutely the worst part.

The problem is as a single parent there’s no chance to lower the demands on me. I’m stuck. Even getting respite services requires lots of work. And if it turns out to be unsuccessful I’m even worse off bc of the energy expended.

This blog is based on my chapter Double Empathy and the Double Rainbow: Healthcare Inequities for Gender Diverse Autistic Adults in the Double Empathy reader. These slides were created and shared for the second PARC Double Empathy series in 2025.
Understanding Double Empathy in TGD Autistic Healthcare
The blog discusses healthcare inequities faced by gender diverse autistic adults, emphasizing the Double Empathy Problem. It highlights systemic barriers, biases in healthcare, and the challenges posed by transmedicalism. Recommendations for practitioners include checking biases, using inclusive language, and valuing lived experiences to foster equitable healthcare environments.

Not just in Glasgow. Happens up here too.

Mainstream schools are not built to have quiet spaces on hand. That’s what happens with inclusion, you put a load of kids in an environment that’s overwhelming and there is nowhere for them to escape to when they need a break.

Without intersectional research, clinicians miss how racism and ableism overlap. Black autistic kids often face harsher school discipline and police encounters that white peers rarely experience, Black autistic kids are more likely to be murdered by police that’s a fact
