Smart cities are transforming transportation, reducing emissions & public costs while adding more choice and improving quality of life. COMMON SENSE! Smart infrastructure for public transit, walking & biking is a GREAT INVESTMENT but cities need funding. #ActionStartsHere @mayors4climate.bsky.social

Probably the worst of them all is the Ring doorbell.

It’s sold as safety, but it’s much more about fear and paranoia in a box that turns you against your community. The more of them in the world, the worse our neighborhoods get. Don’t help the spiral continue.

There are many more bad tech products to avoid. But I keep coming back to @hypervisible.blacksky.app and David Golumbia’s concept of luxury surveillance.

We need to really think about the surveillance tech we’re adopting — and certainly that we’re pushing on others.

With RTO, the knowledge that companies don't care about our wellbeing or the planet depresses me to no end.

"When remote work is seen as a viable norm, employees begin to ask hard questions: Why do I need to be in the office 4 days a week for a job that I did perfectly well from home for 2 years?"

Buried in Ford's omnibus budget bill is a provision for Ford to take control of Exhibition Place from the city. Likely a move to grant more favours to Therme.
As I said yesterday Ford is on a mission to usurp control over every aspect of Ontario's governance

Superb skills development fund scoop from the Toronto Star, which has got its hands on a database of scores for applications.

It reveals several with scores of 50 or less where the minister overruled civil servants to hand out the money anyway. #OnPoli

‼️ WHAT IS BILL 60?

Bill 60 is an attack on renters that will raise your rent, strip away tenant protections, make evictions easier, and hand more power to corporate landlords.

Doug Ford already removed rent control on new buildings in 2018. Now, he wants to go a step further.
Stop Bill 60!
Doug Ford is attacking renters. We must stop him.
