Wouldn't it be great to gather top social science journal editors + experts on fraud-prevention to discuss better ways to fraud-proof our field @ the National Academies? This is happening! Step 1 is creating an organizing committee. Submit nominees by 11/7:

why may chatgpt give better answers than Cursor, even when i set gpt as the engine for the latter and it has the whole project as background instead of just one script?

Been using two monitors for many, many years.
Just tried a single wide (curved 34") monitor instead.
It's slightly less wide total a bit taller.
It's way better.
Looing at center of screen instead of to the side, no dead zone in the middle.

While in many respects the situation is dire I think it’s worth pointing out that there are multiple scientific ecosystems. Being scandalized shows that we normally live in a better functioning, privileged part of the scientific community.
System is so broken:
- researchers write papers no one reads
- reviewers don't have time to review, shamed to coauthors, use LLMs instead of reading
- authors try to fool said LLMs with prompt injection
- evaling researchers based on # of papers (no time to read)
Dystopic.

Hearing from many cases of admitted to top US schools who last minute realize they won't be allowed in the country.

This little devil is the cause of MSWord suddenly moving comments outside the margins into outer space where you can't see them. It somehow just started happening against my will a few months ago. Just uncheck 'enable modern comments' under preferences general, and you will regain humanity.

Neither ChatGPT, nor Google, nor hours on online discussion boards solved this.

Is there any organization with Data Colada style feedback policy
- people whose work is critiqued read drafts before they're public
- suggest edits, and
- get to respond without any editing within post.
Our policy feels outdated and am looking around
Even vaguely in this spirit i'd be interested
