We clock in as we always do, and then when we clock out, we get back to work.

We do it tired, we do it scared, we do it after we put the kids to bed and get the bills paid. We spend one weekend day at the mutual aid distro, instead of two weekend days at the bar.

We have to. That's it
Once again, how are we supposed to work through all this -- I mean, to do our day jobs?

sunshine and nature. good coffee, a pond,

coots
mallards
blue herons
buffleheads

new foliage unfurling,
gallmakers already at work.

talking and just being,
squinting against the late afternoon sun.

there is goodness and hope in this world. we keep us safe.
Two community members stand on the street corner of Central Ave and 18th St, watching over a local business in 5° temps with a wind chill of -15°. They are patrolling the area, keeping an eye out for ICE activity, doing what they can to protect their immigrant neighbors.

timeline cleanse. It's caturday, but this pup is too cute.

just finished the last season of stranger things (giant meh). show would have been vastly improved if they'd added some demiCORGons.

pinning this in case I have the time to write about this tomorrow

- farmers are overly reliant on glyphosate, tons of resistant weeds. should use alt MoAs to reduce resistance, ideally an IPM approach

- roundup ready crops (or dicamba, etc) are a terrible idea. way to nuke your neighbor's field.
The Supreme Court is considering whether to take up a case on glyphosate. They should.

Otherwise, the growing state patchwork of pesticide labeling laws could force glyphosate or other pesticides off the market, costing farmers over $1 billion. thebreakthrough.org/issues/food-...

a surreal and unexpected distraction,
just for an hour or so

I felt it and heard it, but didn't have a clue. the news is so full.

I don't like who NASA has partnered with, but I still feel the wonder.

it's 2026.

1. why don't we have automated shower systems? something like a drive thru car wash, but for humans.

2. why can't I get copies of xrays online, with all my other test results? I have to submit a record request, and get them on a DVD?!

a shitty chronic problem with my dominant arm has finally blossomed into a full blown thing.

mobility minimal, pain medium. I have health insurance, but getting thru the churn of referrals and approvals means I haven't actually seen a doc.

Bit of a false alarm; crowd isn’t marching yet though they are assembled in the street currently. Making speeches still.

oh and learn a bit of the language of your immigration community. phone translation apps are great, but being able to exchange greetings/simple small talk is powerful.

- financial support: for families of those who've been kidnapped. gas cards & dashcams for community patrollers
-behind the scenes: answering helplines, data collection & mapping etc

find your local orgs, see what they need. it's a bulwark against the chaos & it's given me a tiny measure of peace

get involved in local community orgs.

if you can get out in the streets, that's great. but there's room for every ability and risk level.

- accompanying people to court, Dr's appts, etc
- food pantries/food delivery (most food banks collect too much personal info)
