This is not an insult or #plantblindness- this is just idiotic.
Adding insult to injury, they go on to say that Arabidopsis thaliana COULD be considered an important model too... but not really. "Seats are limited", and how important is food really??

This is why we fund scientists to study things like oyster slobber even if you don’t think it sounds important
⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

A new oyster-inspired Bone-02 adhesive can revolutionize bone repair without metal fasteners.

It’s official. Today I was appointed as full professor for Plant Physiology at the University of Würzburg. Looking forward to the challenge and many interactions.

As America nears a tipping point, Russell Vought desires a radical rightwing “counter-revolution.”

For @zeit.de, I wrote a profile of one of Trumpism’s key figures – and one of Trump’s most dangerous henchmen.

Some thoughts from the piece (since it is in German):
Russell Vought: Das ist Trumps gefährlichster Stratege
Er organisiert vom Weißen Haus aus den Umbau der USA. Russell Vought ist Spitzenjurist, christlicher Nationalist – und die subtile Kampfmaschine im Auftrag von Trump.

New Zealand had some of the most restrictive laws when it came to genetically engineered food crops. This move once again demonstrates how the NZ Government makes Science-based decisions.

Take note, European Union!

#PlantGMOs #PlantNGTs #PlantScience #Agroculture #Sustainability #PlantBreeding
NZ joins other Third Countries in updating GM labeling rules: foods made with #GenomeEditing but without new DNA will no longer require a GM label. Only products with added DNA/proteins will.
▶️ A shift toward science-based, risk-proportionate regulation!

Are NZ shoppers hungry for genetically-modified foods?
Gene-edited food won’t need a GM label if no new DNA was introduced during its production.

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

The president of the United States just declared war, actual military war, not a metaphorical one, on a major American city, and one governed by his political opponents.

In any other period, this would be impeachment-worthy.

PIN auxin transporters facilitate polar transport of synthetic phenoxyacetic acid herbicides | Plantae
Synthetic herbicides are widely used in agriculture to control weeds, often by targeting the physiological pathways regulated by auxins, plant hormones that induce root growth and development.

This is a mindblowing and incredibly useful resource for plant science. This should be published in a journal. Editors and journals on Bluesky - here’s an opportunity. Pretty much every one here can tell you that this is awesome. So in principle it’s already peer reviewed. Go for it!
