Excited to share our new paper: a walkthrough of tools, tradeoffs, & practical decisions #ECRs face when doing #OpenScience across curation, processing, harmonizing, and sharing #MRI and #EEG data. My first as last author!
Huge thanks to Nikhil Bhagwat, @surchs.bsky.social & Jean-Baptiste Poline!

🚨New paper out in AMPPS! proud to be part of this one, another solid product of @improvingpsych.org
We mapped the grey zones of psychology’s research culture through a consensus process. Ever wondered, “Wait... is this a questionable practice?” You’re not alone: doi.org/10.1177/2515... #OpenScience

🧠 Our new #ERP paper is out‼️
We know #P3 increases during exclusion after inclusion, but what if we flip it? We tested #overinclusion after #exclusion #P3 stayed stable, but #P2 and self-reports of emotion & belonging shifted.
Inclusion ≠ just the flip side of exclusion.

This study reveals that social threats, like loss of control, affect the processing of following positive social interaction, here overinclusion. ERP data indicate that a preexposure to a threat affe....

Really appreciated the timing of this great topic “AI for Dummies: Using AI for good in psychology” at SIPS @improvingpsych.org (see image) 👏We should be having more open discourse on how researchers are actually using #AI in practice, not just what’s possible, but what’s already embedded!

Brought my IGOR bag (from last week’s #PuG2025 @igor-dgps.bsky.social) to SIPS @improvingpsych.org, full circle moment. Both have shaped how I approach open, reproducible neuro + psych research and collaborative methods. Ps. Brainhack still hits different for the nerdiest magic.

Thanks for having me for this great symposium with many other incredible igor projects! Looking forward to it
A big round of applause for all the presenters of today’s IGOR Symposium! 👏 what a great representation of open and reproducible science at #PuG2025 📢

And many thanks @ocklenburg.bsky.social and Christina Artemenko for organising!

Honoured to join the IGOR steering committee earlier this& last year, now excited to welcome the new members to the team! 🧠👏
Looking forward to it!
Ps. The igor social event is happening now!
+ symposium & round table tomorrow! Don’t miss it @pug2025.bsky.social
Time for some updates! 📸 We have presented this year’s IGOR projects at the DGPs General Assembly, including the new steering committee.

Now time to wind down and get some drinks together: see you at IGOR Social Event at 20:30 🫂

Just wrapped up a lecture on how eye gaze modulates brain responses to social exclusion using eye-tracking! My students dug into related topics today — really proud of their work! Some of it even ties into my own research. Always open to collabs! #Empathy #EyeTracking #Exclusion #attachment #culture

I haven’t been there for all 10, but since joining during the COVID years, @improvingpsych.org has meant a lot - great researchers trying to make research better, together.
Grateful to be part of it. Happy 10th anniversary, #SIPS 🎂🥳

Our new paper is out in Scientific Reports @springernature.com
We studied how #gaze direction shapes social exclusion using #EEG (P3) + self-report in Cyberball.
➡️ Direct gaze heightened neural responses to exclusion (↑ P3 amplitude)
➡️ Averted gaze increased negative mood

I keep asking myself the same question - where is higher education actually flourishing? It feels like institutions everywhere are facing the same challenges: budget cuts, shifting policies, and instability.
Not only in Australia, the UK or USA! Where in the world is the higher education system doing well, I wonder?
Dutch higher education in the news 😔

Universities caught in a ‘perfect storm’ due to government cuts and international student cuts.

How long should you stick with the same journal when feedback intervals are so long that reviewers drop out, leading to new reviewers and multiple rounds of revisions? At what point is it reasonable to move on ( e.g. I wait for 1 yr). Curious about others’ takes on this hidden rule #ScientificReport
