Data availability statements are an interesting thing. Commercial publishers have built these into their manuscript submission systems as drop-down menu options. So what happens next?

🧵
My article "Data is not available upon request" was published in Meta-Psychology. Very happy to see this out!

One of the most powerful skills you get with more and more experience is just understanding what you can ignore lol.

It’s made reading stats papers much easier 😂

Also, is this like a “phase” that I’m going through? The whole special issue thing. Is it like a mid career thing? Or just me? Curious!
Today is a happy day! Submitted a paper to a special issue, and got an invitation to submit to a different special issue! Preprint of the submitted paper coming soon :-)

One of my favorite #UCLA traditions! Students dip their hands in the inverted fountain, and recite an oath, and then not allowed to touch the water until they graduate. So nice to see all the students on campus today!

A significant barrier to widespread adoption of registered reports is when editors and reviewers treat a Stage 2 RR as if it were a brand new paper.

What are authors supposed to do with that? Is it our job to educate editors and reviewers about this format at all stages?
