Adirondack Explorer's Zach Matson met us at Black Pond this summer to spend the day w/ a team of #UAlbany researchers who are collecting & analyzing lake mud in the ADKs.

Each meter of sediment represents about 1,000 years of lake history.

Today, students in my @ualbanydaes.bsky.social data viz class present their final projects, which wouldn't be possible without the folks at @unidata.bsky.social. The consequences of this administration's attacks on science and education just keep on hitting closer and closer to home.
Unidata maintains a lot of key weather data infrastructure, including the netCDF data standard and libraries, metpy. data dissemination servers for accessing models and observations from NOAA, and educational resources for the university community. Now everyone is furloughed b/c of Trump and DOGE.

Halting weather balloon launches in Albany is a disaster waiting to happen.

No weather balloons means weaker storm tracking, worse forecasts, and more lives at risk. Our community needs full National Weather Service staffing now!
