“greed is good”
“might makes right”

It’s a crazy world where rhyme and alliteration are enough for most people to justify their moral cowardice.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Someday I’ll have to explain to my grandchildren that “trumped up charges” was a colloquialism prior to this idiot.

And they won’t believe me.

When people say “stop making things political”, they mean you should stop making them feel uncomfortable that the system that oppresses you benefits them.

none of us are "activists" -- we're moms and students and neighbors and friends and we want to spend our Sundays hanging out and doing silly things, not patrolling our neighborhoods and filming ICE and organizing protests but we have to protect each other or none of us will ever be safe

Norms aren’t laws and, unless they’re enforced quickly, laws ain’t shit.

I can't find it now, but someone wrote something like "Saving time doesn't add to efficiency if it adds work for other people/team. That's just passing off your responsibilities."

Efficiency is an org wide measurement.

1. Human communication
2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important

Today I realized how much tech social media has degraded when I saw a title for a video on building “functional” web apps, and it took me a few seconds to realize “functional” meant “working” and not an alternative to OO/procedural

ChatGPT’s signature writing style is everywhere now, and I hate it. It reminds me of when we tried mixing all the beverages at the soda fountain in middle school. We didn’t actually create the perfect drink, we just made a cloying monstrosity that lost everything good about its constituent parts.

Paul Bojerski never gained official residency, but he checked in regularly with ICE for years. Then in July, at age 79, he was detained and sent to Alligator Alcatraz.
