I looked it up yesterday - ~45% of GOPers think D. Chauvin was wrongly convicted.
A compelling, quantitative answer to "how important a role does racism play in the MAGA movement?"
From experience & from observation I say that decent white folks are struggling to come to terms with this reality.
Whatever modest energy that Dem leadership has for strategic thinking gets consumed by sorting out who among them will take heat and who will get cover for their various capitulations.
The thing @schumer.senate.gov appears to be doing where he gets everybody who’s retiring or was just sworn in to a six-year term to vote yes so he and a bunch more moderates can vote “no” to appear more progressive than they are is so insulting lol

Sure, if you only judge him on how he wields political power to usurp the Constitution, sow division among us, ruin the lives of innocent people, and enrich himself, you might not realize what a great guy he is.
Dr Oz on the guy who collapsed in the Oval Office: "The president, God bless him, called the wife from the Oval Office giving her updates on how her husband was doing. When you actually know the man as a human being, not as a political actor, you have to love him."

If SCOTUS yanks his chain on tariffs it will be because:

1) Roberts is belatedly looking for a fig leaf (doomed).
2) The ruling would not reduce DJT's freedom to pursue the core work of oppressing US citizens at home.
3) The justices have seen big price rises on some of their favored luxury items.

Well, we know that fairness is not a concern, and as far as cases being tossed, that would be a problem if the goal was to win cases.
If the goals instead were to terrorize and disrupt Democrat-governed cities and put on a show for the base of rural rubes....
I have been a reporter for close to 40 years, including stints covering police and the courts. This thing, from the president down, of accusing people of crimes when not charged: That did not used to be a thing. Authorities don’t do that because it is unfair and leads to cases being tossed.

there's something remarkable about a painting that looks like a fleeting and improvised action snapshot.
as if the artist noticed the cyclists a little too late for a good angle but reflexively painted them anyhow

we know, that he knows, that he's an outlaw. because he actively seeks out rules to break. that he is the only person who could ever get away with these things *is* the payoff. that's why no accomplishment (the presidency) or immense ill-gotten wealth will ever satisfy him.

Voter turnout in '24 would have been better if Canada had been on the ballot, I guess.
Enten: "Canada is far more popular than Donald Trump is here in the United States. The net popularity of Canada is +49. Trump is -10. We're talking about Canada coming out nearly 60 points ahead on the net popularity ratings versus Donald Trump here in the US"
