In a weird way I think being a Paper Mario fan kind of inoculated me against the fear of franchise decline. Like seeing Yakuza fans go through the 5 stages of grief when their beloved IP starts to decline, it's a mix of the "first time?" meme but also perspective that you will be fine without it.

There's so much funny awful shit in here it's hard to know where to start. Cancelling new IPs to double down on existing franchises is up there though, how is that materially any different to what they've already been doing for the past 10 years.
