I just finished rereading Reticence by @gailcarriger.bsky.social . It’s at least as much fun on the second pass.

I'd rather watch his trial.
I’m absolutely NOT watching Trump’s #SOTU speech tonight — I’d rather stick a red hot poker in my eye.

How about you?

Today I looked up the phone numbers for my representatives. My next thing is to write myself a script for my daily phone calls to the reps.

Well THERE’S my well-informed freakout. Finally. Sorry for the delayed reaction: I was busy hoping our government couldn’t be overthrown this easily.

Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks. Rage; blow.

I'm not teaching my grad course 'Civil Resistance: How It Works' this semester. But here is an abridged version of the course schedule, readings, and films I used the last time I taught it (in 2022). Just in case it's useful. drive.google.com/file/d/14RRJ...

One voice can be very very loud.

And by being so, it can inspire others to speak up too.
Would very much like to thank Joanne Freeman @jbf1755.bsky.social for her pointing out that Bishop Budde was one voice, just one, speaking to power and it was amplified across the media.

Don't give up.
Don't stop speaking the truth.

Resistance is NOT futile.

In another “Big Government” move…
The Trump administration has required that all communications and social media posts from federal agencies undergo prior approval before being shared. This directive is currently in effect until the end of the month.

I’m cracking up watching him shoot himself in the foot like this.
looks like the help that trump promised to folks in north carolina isn’t coming
Trump: "FEMA is gonna be a whole big discussion very shortly, because I'd rather see the states takes care of their own problems."

The Democrats should use this as a chance to radicalize regular people in favor of, uh, the idea of a functional government. Every time that an important but unnoticed federal department fails because Trump fired everyone they should make a big deal out of it.
a thought i have at the moment is that this effort to terrorize bureaucrats may end up being a gigantic self-inflicted wound that really hobbles the administration
