Drip/pour over coffee is a very good and I want an apology from all the euros who have trashed it over the years. Especially the ones who tried to claim that an Americano is somehow an acceptable substitute
"In a nation renowned for sophisticated tastes, the acerbic, harsh espresso served in many bistros was not just surprising, but seemingly inexplicable."

This is why I always used to chuckle when Parisians offhandedly dissed Starbucks. The problem is that the French think their coffee is good.
In Paris, the next coffee revolution is quietly brewing
Meet the pioneers reimagining the French capital’s café society, infusing every bean with craft, conscience and creativity

Did not expect one of the best paragraphs I’d read about baseball would come from an Irish newspaper

Has this World Series consistently featured the highest quality of baseball? No. Has it featured the widest array possible of beautiful, weird, specific baseball delights? Yes.

Nice little rally the Blue Jays having going here. The odds suggest that they'll score at least one run here. But have you considered the 100-percent odds of them making two more quiet outs and wondering what could have been?

This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.

This is exactly--and I mean exactly--how Holocaust deniers have long discredited the Final Solution being a concerted effort & high-level order. "The Jews in the camps all died of typhoid outbreaks"
I’m kind of speechless with this one. I can’t imagine the kind of person who continues to make the argument that it doesn’t count as real starvation if the kids were already sick.

Remembering Some Guys is possibly the most singularly wholesome, non-toxic activity many men engage in

you want to get dudes out of the fever swamps of the manosphere? get them together and start arguing about relief pitching
I mean this is literally a huge chunk of sports posting and half the time on this app it is immediately met with screaming about how sportball is for conservatives
One of my favourite things is when men in groups geek out about their shared interest or hobby so hard that they enter this state where they are all small boys again, unconstrained by toxic masculinity and masculine social expectations.

It’s rare to observe and it’s wonderful when it happens.

NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital.

Raskin: This is a gangster state. This is not basically a legitimate government that is sometimes doing corrupt things. This is an essentially corrupt enterprise. It's like watching The Sopranos. Every day, they get up and they try to figure out how to plunder and pillage the people

any Democratic elected who says they can't win the politics of "should we give Trump the power to disappear innocent people into a concentration camp" has a terminal case of consultant brain and should be ruthlessly hounded from office

current levels of optimism in the US: "lots of people actually still think concentration camps are a bad idea"

you know the Overton window has shifted to basically another plane of existence when you read things like "there's pretty broad discomfort with disappearing people with no due process" as though that is a reassuring, optimistic stance to take

Saw an article from a local Philly paper saying that they thought this Giants-Phillies series would be "at least 3 easy wins to pencil in" and I gotta say I appreciate humility of putting that in print after last night's game

the only exception to this in my opinion is José Ramírez. you can't play third base professionally for long if you ever think about anything other than "see ball -> catch ball". 100% of your brain power has to go to that state of preparedness 24/7

Casey Schmitt hits a two-run homer (112.4 MPH EV) to plate Sam Huff. That is his second of the spring, which now leads the club #SFGiants

The EV would be a new max for Schmitt during the regular season.
