"I'm fairly certain I didn't fall asleep during Bi Gan's hypnotic new anthology film RESURRECTION, and yet when I think back on it the morning after I feel like I may have imagined the whole thing."

Remembering that time I seamlessly strung together Harry Partch, Paula Temple, Bohren & Der Club Of Gore, Rødhåd and Alfred Schnittke.

I would make a great music editor and the world's worst fucking DJ.

America's Nadine Dorries.
Probably the only time I was grateful for a MTG tweet.

I don't want to spoil my Top 10 Films of 2024 list for anyone but I will say this: there is only one film I've seen twice at the cinema this year, and it's Sean Baker's ANORA. It also happens to still be in UK cinemas and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you do.

You know we vaccinated well over 5 million people in London during the pandemic. So why is our 5G reception still so crap??

Some useful Japanese vocabulary I've learned recently:

負け犬 (mukeinu) = loser
弱虫 (yowamushi) = weakling
最低 (saitei) = the worst
打つ (utsu) = to hit

I can't do much with my nine months of Japanese yet, but at least I'll be able to bully people next time I'm there.

Bluesky seems nice so far, but I wonder how long that can last? According to the Verge, their moderation team had to deal with 42,000 reports in the space of 24 hours recently, versus 360,000 for all of 2023. As of August they had a team of 221. Seems. . . ambitious.

Remember that Elon Musk made Twitter more efficient by killing off a large chunk of its user base. In this context, the nomination of RFK Jr as health secretary actually makes a lot of sense.

Starting on here as I mean to continue, with a subtle bid to game the algorithm using stealth cat photos.
