Oh hey another social media site. What is this, 2005?

What if it was the intrinsic field generator that broke the Edmund Fitzgerald in half?
What if the walking circulatory system and the early gales of November are the same thing? Have you ever seen them in the same room?

I remember in high school standing with my friend at a Suncoast Video in the mall in the 90s commenting first on a new imported Godzilla movie and then an Edmund Fitzgerald documentary.

Without a beat, the sales clerk said “I don’t remember Godzilla fighting that ship.”

Absolute legend.

Meanwhile today I was reminded of the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald wreck so it was worth taking a vacation break to check social media.

Because as someone who spent my formative years in Michigan, that shit is real.
Me: I’m exhausted from this nice vacation day with my family out of town. Let me peek at the interwebs for a bit and check in on the world.

They have a “prison break” set that’s obviously Alcatraz so this is not out of the question.
Lego needs an Edmund Fitzgerald Great Lakes freighter set.

TIL the tale of the Edmund Fitzgerald is one of corporate malfeasance and worker endangerment.
SS Edmund Fitzgerald had a structural defect in its keel. Sailors on that ship had complained about the ship bending and flexing during storms, especially when it was overloaded, which it usually was. They had also found old keel weld breaks due to structural fatigue, which were never repaired

I'm pissed, but no amount of Democratic fuckery is going to keep me from #Fitzposting today. I've been saving memes for months. It's the 50th anniversary. I have 29 bottles of Great Lakes Brewing's Edmund Fitzgerald Porter lined up and ready to go (one for each man lost that day).
