#Booksky, it’s taken me WAY too long to start reading @anthonyryan.bsky.social. Just finished The Pariah, and it’s a masterclass in narrative voice, a character-driven novel in the purest of terms that doesn’t forget to be exciting and fun to read. Looking forward to diving into his back catalogue!

Oh hey, the Patriots remembered they were playing football in the fourth quarter. Hope those boys are having fun.

All of this. I am the first of my target audience.

Part of this is, if you aren't creating for someone, it's like creating for everyone, which is creating for no one.

And as a writer, that someone should be me since I HAVE to reread my work over and over and over 🫠 that's publishing, bay-bee
"Why would I read something someone couldn't be bothered to write" is a great refrain but I would also add as a writer "I won't write something I couldn't be bothered to read" because that's what every one of my books are: something *I* want to read.

Know what’s even bigger than the big game? A series of independently published heist fantasy novels, of course! And I’ll be signing them at the Barnes & Noble by the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs today!

(Also it starts at 1, you can swing by before the big game)

#Booksky Finally got around to reading @pvbrett.bsky.social’s The Desert Prince, and it may be his best book yet. Brett’s skills as a writer have never been finer in this tale of demon slaying that still has space for a stirring exploration of gender. It’s the mark of a truly talented writer… 1/2

For We Are Many, @dennisetaylor.bsky.social’s second Bobiverse book, is another shot of pure sci-fi entertainment. Big ideas, deepening character and worldbuilding arcs, musings on immortality, all filtered through that good good Bob voice. What’s not to love? #Booksky

Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.

"Please get the truth out about our son."

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.

It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.

Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.

Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

And just to be clear, THIS is why Minnesotans are the best of us today!

Tired of humanity today (no reason in particular)? Take a step into a very different future in @aptshadow.bsky.social’s excellent Children of Ruin: all the fun of Children of Time, but now with more octopuses! Full of clever worldbuilding and all the speculative wonder Tchaikovsky does best #Booksky

#Booksky If you want your @tkingfisher.com a bit Pratchett-y, Nine Goblins is the story for you! Quick, charming, and very funny, it also gives you all that goblin goodness you crave without those problematic tropes that often get attached to the species. I was delighted.

An excellent video from @hankgreen.bsky.social.

I cannot in any official capacity call the needless killing of Renee Good murder. What I can say is that if this administration genuinely believed it were *not* murder, they would not feel so compelled to lie about what we can see with our own eyes.

#Booksky Quick thought now that @ddalglish.com’s Level: Apocalypse arrived after I waited for a MONTH (no, I’m not bitter or anything)— this series would be a great on ramp for the LitRPG subgenre. It’s got the mechanics, sure, but they’re a part of a larger puzzle that’s compelling regardless. 1/2

Through Gates of Garnet and Gold is another pearl to add to @seananmcguire.bsky.social’s string of Wayward Children novellas, addressing story elements that haven’t been addressed in ages while providing adventure and giving closure to some elements from the series’s beginning. Masterful #Booksky

Januaries is @olivieblake.bsky.social at her most playful and inventive, experimenting with form and genre and tone in exhilarating ways. Stories can turn on a dime, like “The Animation Games,” which had me cackling, and all are imbued with a serious passion for storytelling. Loved it! #Booksky

You know that Twilight Zone episode “It’s a Good Life,” with the kid that can read minds, so everyone in his isolated town has to constantly tell him he’s doing such a good job or risk him doing something terrible?

That’s basically Trump term 2.0.
