I’ve spent this morning morbidly watching the MTV channels close down and the final songs played were:
MTV Music - Video Killed the Radio Star (Buggles)
Club MTV - Don’t Stop the Music (Rihanna)
MTV 90s - Goodbye (Spice Girls)
MTV 80s - Together in Electric Dreams (Oakey and Moroder)

OK, strap in….

Here is part 2 of the “Tesco/(insert other brand) are cancelling Christmas” claims!

🎄🎅🤶🎄

TL:DR? Christmas is alive and well everywhere you look.

And so too, sadly, is manufactured Christmas rage baiting.

Here is just 7 day’s worth of Daily Mail Christmas Rage bait

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

These posts cover a wide array of today's racism in Britain: telling British-born people to 'get back to their country', saying immigrants shouldn't be able to run for office, mocking people's names, denying minorities can be English, and hating Sadiq Khan

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.

Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph

Because this does NOT add up!

No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

Even though he’s partial to hideous noise, free jazz is mostly unknown to the Guardian’s pop critic. A new guidebook from Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore may change his mind

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Great thread here debunking this year’s early stirrings of cancelled Christmas bullshit
Let’s have a look at a crazy Twitter to newspaper pipeline story and debunk as we go! 🔎👍🏼

16th Nov the “Britain is Broken” account shared the following post claiming “Tesco are no longer celebrating Christmas”

With a picture of their “Evergreen” Trees

I was tagged and asked to take a look at this claim - cos, well just look at it!🙄

Does it seem plausible that THE Trocadero is going to be turned into a Mosque?

It was pretty easy to debunk but I decided to do a deep dive into the reality AND the appalling press coverage

Once the fabric has been knitted and dyed, it's brushed on the underside for softness (turning terry fabric into fuzzy fleece). Next, the fabric is washed and dried to reduce shrinkage, stacked into piles so it can be cut by hand-operated saws, and then finally sewn into hoodies.
