Because I JUST had to deal with this after my hacker incident: You cannot simply email Discord. You MUST use their support forum, and you WILL need to create an account using the same email you use for Discord.

Yeah. :/ Anytime I hear about a potential alternative, there is always a glaring caveat about it and it just sort of puts us back to square one. I haven't been suggesting to migrate for this very reason. I hate the semi soft monopoly Discord has right now.

I've been informed one might need an age-verified Google account to get into this, so I would safely say that this is off the table for the time being. Good to know.

Thank you. While obviously it is far too soon to advertise jumping ship to just any chat client that's out there, it's good to get a feel for alternatives and equip ourselves with knowledge, at least. Doesn't hurt to just research.

Yeah, I don't think I'd be comfortable trying to advertising moving to a different app. i
It's good to get a feel for what's out there, but until more information comes out, I would exercise caution and not haste. I know I'm staying on Discord for the time being as I research a bit more.

I know that there are so many other competitors out there now, and more than likely, things will stay the same. But I want to believe in the hope that this gets people to do something else other than willing put up with nonsense from a garbage company.

At the very least, I want there to be something else other than discord that people settle for. I understand wanting to stick on Discord and not uproot. I can't fault that. But I can't help but feel as though it doesn't HAVE to be that way. And I'm hoping it doesn't stay that way for much longer.

- TeamSpeak (been around since before Discord, recent overhaul)
- Revolt (open source, uses Discord's UI)
- Rootapp (seems to be an out of beta community app, but is limited currently)
