“Boorman and the Devil” is one of 2025’s most unexpectedly gripping documentaries… (it) reframes a sequel many see as a failure as a meaningful — even essential — filmmaking experiment. Among this year’s undistributed gems, it’s a true standout that demands to be on streaming at least.”

"...it is indeed heresy that this terrific doc has yet to land distribution. Someone needs to get this movie to a wider audience, and they shouldn’t need the devil to make them do it." - Michael Gingold

Every frame of Boorman and the Devil drips with David Kittredge’s deep love for film and more specifically The Exorcist II: Heretic. It’s a doc made of blood sweat and tears and a must-see for anyone who’s ever been obsessed with a film - and all lovers of film.

"A WOUNDED FAWN" remains one of my favorite memories... playing a serial killer, shooting on the east coast through Halloween season...

Anyway, great flicks on this list

Boorman and the Devil is fantastic.

It's a deep dive into the making and release of the ill-fated Exorcist II – one of the biggest, most beautiful studio swings of the 1970s – that doubles as a fascinating (and long overdue) portrait of John Boorman, one of the last century's great film artists.

I’ve seen two works-in-progress cuts of BOORMAN AND THE DEVIL, but tonite’s sold out screening of the real thing at @beyondfest.bsky.social was transcendent. Congrats to the whole team. I’ve always enjoyed The Exorcist 2 as spectacle but now I’ve finally got my head around what it’s trying to do.
