back on my "gender crisis" bullshit
“gender crisis” enacts an encounter with gender that is characterized by several key traits: (1) it is playful; (2) it is repeatable, rather than final; and (3) its temporality is marked not by steady linear progression, but by a state of stasis followed by the sudden and unexpected rupture of falling blocks. Like “Teen Witch,” it frames the encounter as a constant process of re-discovery and self-analysis. But unlike “Teen Witch,” the encounter is prompted not only by internal self-exploration and embodied action, but also by compounding forces in the external world: gravity, the movement of others through the space, the slant or slope of a table or floor, the gentle shaking of nearby footsteps. The moment of “becoming” is not just about how one feels, but how the world, sometimes completely unwelcome, moves us. It represents any gendered understanding of the self as existing within a constant state of precarity, resolved only by the willingness to confront its instability over and over again. It figures transness as a form of falling, a cascading of blocks, a tumbling that crucially calls to mind not only the constant interplay of interactive forces such as gravity simultaneously supporting and pulling down on the blocks at all times, but also the act of childlike play. The collapse of a tumbling block tower elicits a kind of delighted surprise, a spontaneous laughter, a relief to the build of tension that grows and grows as pieces are removed and the tower grows taller and less steady. I'm actually offended by this. I can't go to specsavers, right? So I'm immediately facing a higher cost for eye tests and glasses than someone in a city. But if my needs exceed $280 I am not allowed to supplement the loan from MSD to pay any excess myself? what the fuck.
What's not included We don't pay for: high end, expensive frames extras you may want, eg tinting lens coatings or glasses specifically for Irlen Syndrome. You also can't 'top up' or 'up-grade' with your own money so you can obtain costlier items or extras.

this week we are saying Thank You to people who cancel appointments 3 days in advance, giving me time to snatch their appointment, get the winz support i need for that appointment and make sure I have a car to get there :)
