An incredible album. Lo-fi/minimal songs of despair and alien(!)ation by mildly depressed sci-fi nerds. I'm pretty sure the only publication that reviewed it at the time was 2000AD and that's because it's probably the only one they sent it to.
‘Space Museum’ by Solid Space (1982) 🚀
Reissued by Dark Entries in 2017
Cheap synths and drum machines, stripped-back layers, melodies with a pop sensibility from this short-lived British duo. Space Museum is an adventurous, seminal, and decidedly punk album that was years ahead of its time.

Reminds me of when Big Sam got sacked from the England job. He too was driven away in a blacked-out car and the shutter speed and flash of a clever modern camera managed to penetrate and capture one single solitary shot which became the only and defining image of his downfall. Wear a hoodie, guys.

Signs (2002)

A staggeringly stupid film that reveals itself at the end to have been one big advert for God and how loss, suffering and trauma is all a worthwhile part of His plan because it means you are able to, er, twat an alien over the head with a baseball bat.
fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

Robert Duvall always felt like American cinema's secret weapon. There were bigger names around & flashier performances but few could match his versatility.
Calm or fury. Toughest guy or weakest. Nice or nasty. Comfortable in all modes and 100% convincing every time.
RIP

Personally, I'd have a Day celebrating this guy.

There's something a bit tragic and pathetic about these old guys who thought they were really cool and edgy in the 90s still hanging around thinking they're relevant and embracing every crappy new thing that comes along. Anyway, enough about me being on Bluesky, have a read of this hahahahahaha

Hmm, the "I'm Spartacus!" plan seems to be backfiring.

Prediction: In ten years' time, all the new-cast assorted tat produced for the cancelled-after-two-seasons HP tv show will be clogging up every charity shop shelf and look as bewildering and incongruous to those modern eyes as this does now.

Just been reading up on this Kid Rock guy you all seem to like and, I have to say, he sounds like a bit of a tit.

Keir Starmer is a decent man whose only real weakness is his loyalty to his friends and advisors. He's still the right man to lead the country. (Something like that. Maybe put your own spin on it rather than copy & pasting. Payment should go through tomorrow. Speak soon x)

What a film.

A bit late but John's just read the news that Keir Starmer is considering running for leader.
I have written twice now to Labour’s General Secretary to investigate this story because if true it is immensely damaging to our party.
Cabinet Office minister Josh Simons commissioned PR firm to investigate journalists and their sources

Why? Because they were digging into the dark money behind Labour Together, and Keir Starmer's rise

I wonder if the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic will explain why that song is called Thriller? I mean, it's all about beasts, ghouls, zombies & werewolves so it should really be called Horror, shouldn't it? Nobody refers to Vincent Price as the great thriller actor, do they? Always annoyed me that.

Hey, your favourite cool, storytelling-is-magic hippy-goth uncle is back, folks!

This is just the tonic we need to take our minds off all those recent stories about rich, powerful, victim-silencing abusers who used their wealth and status to prey on the powerless.

More like Donald Poomp, right?

(NB This attempt at a joke only makes sense if you're aware that 'trump' is also mildly rude British slang for breaking wind)

I'm sure they already did an article like this a few years ago where they compared him to Liam Gallagher(!); now it's "The Smiths meet Britpop". He needs to add some grey to his wardrobe so they can reference "the stark, austere aesthetic of the early Factory years" and complete the Manc bingo card.
